My friend Grrlscientist asked me to write a guest post for her at Punctuated Equilibrium. This is it. Meanwhile, here is a cute pet picture, for those who demand more from their reading than a blog the sole purpose of which is to link to another blog.

Thanks for the plug, Henry! Excellent rules too.

I lost track after rule 6. Were the remaining ones important?

Seriously, nice post and g00d r00lz. I’m commenting here because Grrl’s blog comments seem to fill up with people arguing about irrelevant things (on occasion).

  3. Have you thought of sending them to Bill Maher’s writers?

  4. Oh, and by the way, the last thing I wrote for Grrl’s blog got published as an academic paper, more or less.

I can’t see henry’s piece appearing in an academic journal. Unless it’s Science, trying to spike the opposition.

Useful points, especially the later ones. I think number 10 is my favourite.

    Er, … that´s it

Very profound – at some point it is necessary to say “This piece is finished. No more” and then just send it off. I think that is important in blogging especially. This rule also speaks to me of the importance of actually delivering something, of getting to that point of completion. That is my biggest problem (so many drafts, so few completed).
