  1. Bob O'H says:

I wonder what this is trying to tell us?

That they nicked London whilst you were all distracted by the jubilee?

  2. The third sign is telling me that I haven’t been to the shop that sells Empanadas over in Kensington Market (Toronto, not London) for a long time.

    Mmmmmmm empanadas.

  3. John the Plumber says:

I despair – I thought I’d taught you all about Economy Signs.

Bernado O’Higgins liberated rather a lot of plastic from a wharehouse just off the Old Kent Rd and had to do a runnner to Chile where he opened a shop. – There’s no arrow on the sign directing to the shop because that would be stupid with all the people after him. – The second sign is to confuse them. – I don’t know how the picture of the ‘London Market’ got in here – it has nothing whatsoever to do with Bernardo O’ Higgins – but congratulations to Alejandro for finding Bernado’s plastic shop despite the efforts of the World-wide Economy Sign Co. to send everybody the wrong way.

(Bernado O’Higgins was the first Dictator of Chile after liberation from Spain. Perhaps unique in dictators, he supported democracy – which is probably why his was ousted after only five years. – Let’s face it – if you’re going to be a dictator you might as well dictate properly. – He had a fascinating life, charging about all over the place (usually a cavalry charge) all as if by accident. -Well worth a look at. – His adventures make me wonder how we have evolved from relatively peaceful apes to become heroes, villains, politicians and plumbers.)

  4. Alejandro says:

Thank John, but it seems the plastic shop was O’Higgins father.

  5. John the Plumber says:

    Surely not father than Chile?

  6. Alejandro says:

Bernardo’s father was a prosperous merchant and military.

  7. John the Plumber says:

The story of Bernado and his familly would be unbelievable if it wasn’t true.
