Evolution In Pictures #3

Continuing the occasional series (started here by Dr S. S. of Cambridge) in which the word ‘Evolution’ or its derivatives are found in unusual, inappropriate or downright peculiar circumstances. This one pictured earlier today from the window of a cafĂ© in Cromer. All contributions welcome.

I’ve call at this phone but no one answered me……sad.

  2. Bob O'H says:

Do they install nuclear reactors, for the added mutations?

  3. Steve Caplan says:

I don’t have a picture, but in thinking about “Evolve Electrical” and the natural selection of electricians, this older blog of mine pops to mind!

    • John the Plumber says:

An interesting tale, your link Steve. – On a good I day call myself a heating engineer and electrics come into that, so I know a fair bit about electrical installations. I’m familiar with ground fault circuit interrupters but what’s an electical receptacle.- never heard of that one? – Is it something to keep spare electrons in? (Can I put in at the end of a sentence?)

      • Steve Caplan says:

        John,

It may be an American term, but it does come up in an online (US) dictionary:

Noun 1. electric receptacle – receptacle providing a place in a wiring system where current can be taken to run electrical devices

        • John the Plumber says:

Well it does sound better when I say electrical receptacle in my John Wayne impersonation voice. Thanks for the info Steve.

  4. Cath@VWXYNot? says:

Y’know, I think electricians are in a profession where I’d rather they dealt in intelligent design than in evolution…

    • John the Plumber says:

It’s all right you scientists mocking us trades-men – but come the revolution you’ll be in trouble – we’ll think of something nasty by then.
