Whilst you&#8217;re all digesting that, I thought I&#8217;d give you some more fun for the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nOne of the curiosities of science, and I suppose other technical areas, is the jargon that builds up.  It&#8217;s obviously necessary for efficient communication between experts, but leaves the rest of us mystified.  As it&#8217;s Friday evening, I won&#8217;t go into a long discussion about the use and misuse of jargon<sup><a href=\"#fn422331272502413012d8a1\">1<\/a><\/sup>, I&#8217;ll just give you some I saw this week for you to interpret:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nWe retrieved a CPIES array at C09 after completion of the CTD. We are now finishing C11 and will steam to C12 leaving six stations to complete on this leg.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Your task is to explain what is going on.  Some of you may know, but that won&#8217;t help as I&#8217;ll be marking you down for correct answers.  I&#8217;m looking for something amusing and silly instead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"footnote\"><sup>1<\/sup> I know, I really should write some serious blog posts.
