I hope none of you will object to a bit of advertising. I’ve been co-editing1<\/a><\/sup> a special issue of Annales Zoologici Fennici<\/a> on Methods in Ecological Research. I’ll blog more about it when it comes out, but for now here’s an advert in case you want to buy the special issue in one handy bundle of dead tree.
\nFWIW, I don’t see any of the money, but we do need to cover the cost of production.<\/p>\n


\nDear colleagues, we are planning on publishing a special issue on Methods in Ecological Research in the journal Annales Zoologici Fennici (2009, second issue). If you are interested in purchasing a copy of this issue, please contact our Managing Editor at sekj@helsinki.fi BEFORE the 15th of March 2009.
\nThe issue consists of six peer reviewed articles and is aimed at those at the onset of their scientific careers, and perhaps even experienced readers of ecology and evolutionary biology, when they start planning and implementing a new study:
\nPaper 0. Kotze, D.J. & O’Hara, R.B. Preface – Methods in Ecological Research
\nPaper 1. Ford, E.D. The importance of a research data statement and how to develop one
\nPaper 2. Underwood, A.J. Components of design in ecological field experiments
\nPaper 3. Campbell, D.L.M. et al. Context and control: behavioural ecology experiments in the laboratory
\nPaper 4. O’Hara, R.B. How to make models add up – a primer on GLMMs
\nPaper 5. L\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4, E. Statistics: reasoning on uncertainty, and the insignificance of testing null
\nPaper 6. Harvey, J.A. Preparing a paper for publication: an action plan for rapid composition and completion
\nThe cost of the issue is 25 euros + p&p<\/p>\n
