{"id":27,"date":"2008-02-22T09:43:17","date_gmt":"2008-02-22T07:43:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/boboh\/2008\/02\/22\/now_this_is_embarrassing\/"},"modified":"2012-08-09T22:28:34","modified_gmt":"2012-08-09T20:28:34","slug":"now_this_is_embarrassing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/boboh\/2008\/02\/22\/now_this_is_embarrassing\/","title":{"rendered":"Now, this is embarrassing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve just received an email from a colleague telling me (well, us) that <a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1111\/j.1439-0469.2007.00439.x\">our paper is now online<\/a>.<br \/>\nI had totally forgotten that I was on the paper.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nI looked at the paper, and had an &#8220;oh, yeah&#8221; moment &#8211; I did some of the analysis for them.  This happens to me sometimes, I get asked to help with the analysis of data, and then the person comes back six months later with a further question.  I don&#8217;t mind that, but in return I hope they don&#8217;t mind the blank expression on my face for half a minute as I desperately try and remember what the problem was.  Or, in extreme cases, who they are.<br \/>\nOh, and I can now add 4 names to my list of co-authors who I&#8217;ve never met.  I&#8217;ve even got <a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1890\/04-1599\">one paper<\/a> for which I haven&#8217;t met any of my co-authors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve just received an email from a colleague telling me (well, us) that our paper is now online.
