\nI see that there are some spaces opening up at ScienceBlogs, and I’d like join you. I have a great idea for a blog about science: a humorous look at all those great things that have had their day and are now declining or being discarded. This would include dusty museums, and the areas of science that are falling out of favour because they are old-fashioned and boring (areas like post-modernism and autism research). I’ll take a wry look at both the gentle subsidence and the sudden collapse of institutions, as members either drift away or leave in a sudden rush as they feel alienated. I also have some ideas about posts on how scientific communities react and fall apart as the Big Bucks move in and take over.
\nThe blog will be called The Sound of Crickets<\/i>, and I already have a banner for it:

<\/span>\nMy first post will be about a remarkable paper (still embargoed) that describes context-dependent dispersal strategies in maritime rodents. I haven’t finished writing the post yet – I was intending to use it as satire, but I just haven’t been able to find anything happening in the scientific or online world that would be appropriate.
