{"id":221,"date":"2010-06-23T08:50:06","date_gmt":"2010-06-23T08:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/erikacule\/2010\/06\/23\/links_i_thought_you_had_already_seen\/"},"modified":"2025-01-30T07:49:41","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T07:49:41","slug":"links_i_thought_you_had_already_seen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/erikacule\/2010\/06\/23\/links_i_thought_you_had_already_seen\/","title":{"rendered":"Links I thought you had already seen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a great time at (my first) <a href=\"http:\/\/search.twitter.com\/search?q=%23ukscitweetup\">#ukscitweetup<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nature.com\/london\/2010\/06\/22\/ukscitweetup-tonight\">last night<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I promised <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/benlablondon\">some<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/rpg7twit\">people<\/a> some links to some of my favourite articles, things I have not blogged about before on the assumption that they were old hat.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jcs.biologists.org\/cgi\/content\/full\/121\/11\/1771\">The importance of stupidity in scientific research<\/a> &#8211; I am not the only PhD student I know who had this blu-tacked to the wall above their desk.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/12242150\">Can a biologist fix a radio?<\/a> Or, what I learned while studying apoptosis &#8211; I first came across this when I was looking for some references for the introduction to my undergraduate thesis, which <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nature.com\/erikacule\/2008\/10\/22\/multidiscipline\">applied a mathematical method to a biological problem<\/a>. The article made me laugh out loud and has elicited the same response from other biologists working in bioinformatics or mathematical biology.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a PhD student, a bioinformatician, neither, or both, I think you might like them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a great time at (my first) #ukscitweetup last night.
