Your invitees have recovered from the weekend, and who wants to go out on a school night?<\/p>\n<p>It is not my fault, though, that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shrove_Tuesday\">Shrove Tuesday<\/a> falls midweek. Known in the UK as Pancake Day, and around the world variously as <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mardi_Gras\">Mardi Gras<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carnival\">Carnival<\/a>, Shrove Tuesday marks the day before the start of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lent\">Lent<\/a>. In the Christian tradition, it is an occasion for using up luxuries in preparation for the self-denial of Lent.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, pancakes are tasty, so here is a plan for how to organise a midweek pancake party with minimal hassle.<\/p>\n<p>Order your ingredients from your favourite online supplier, to prevent grappling over the last remaining box of eggs in the local supermarket on the way home on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/_SPEoWFy-qc4\/TXh1EklLc5I\/AAAAAAAAATY\/spG2iNYwvEI\/s288\/ingredients.jpg\" alt=\"Ingredients for pancakes\" width=\"215\" height=\"288\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Product placement? Offer then some guidelines, so you do not end up, as we did, with four jars of jam and half a dozen jars of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wakeuptonutella.co.uk\/index.php\">Nutella<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 298px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/_SPEoWFy-qc4\/TXyY_gmyiHI\/AAAAAAAAAUM\/GNvT-Nz4_Cg\/s288\/toppings.jpg\" alt=\"Nutella-fest\" width=\"288\" height=\"216\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Toppings<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Making pancakes is fun! So get your guests to make their own. Partly because they have to get up for work the next day, and partly, I am told, because after three banana-and-Nutella crepes, any food or beverage looses its appeal.
