In fact, I\u2019m not ashamed to admit I have a bit of a girl crush on Holly. Which is why, when she invited me to take part in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.writersfortheredcross.org\/about-event\/\">Writers for the Red Cross<\/a>, I leapt at the chance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/mindthegap\/2011\/03\/01\/in-which-i-do-my-bit\/designwebrez\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-874\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/mindthegap\/files\/2011\/03\/DesignWebRez.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"DesignWebRez\" width=\"510\" height=\"459\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-874\" srcset=\"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/mindthegap\/files\/2011\/03\/DesignWebRez.jpg 510w, https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/mindthegap\/files\/2011\/03\/DesignWebRez-300x270.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Holly and her friend Beth Dunn organized Writers for the Red Cross (<strong>#write4red<\/strong>) to celebrate Red Cross Month, which kicks off today. Intended to raise funds and awareness for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcross.org\/\">American Red Cross<\/a>, this online event will be auctioning off publishing-related items and services donated by publicists, agents, editors and authors \u2013 including yours truly. <\/p>\n<p>The American Red Cross has more than half a million volunteers and 35,000 employees who work together through nearly 700 locally supported chapters to help out during worldwide disasters. It\u2019s a great cause, and you can take part in the auction to win a wide variety of swag bags put together by the various participants \u2013 you don\u2019t have to be American to show your support. Week One\u2019s auction <a href=\"http:\/\/www.writersfortheredcross.org\/category\/week-one-march-1-6\/\">is now open<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.writersfortheredcross.org\/science-is-sexy-swag-bag\/\">My own goody bag<\/a> will be available for bidding next week. So I am pleased to report that after a long hiatus, the book is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Honest-Look-Jennifer-L-Rohn\/dp\/1936113112\/\">finally available again on US Amazon<\/a>. Grab your copies while they last! The journal <a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1016\/j.cell.2010.12.006\">Cell<\/a> thought it was pretty groovy, as did <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/science\/punctuated-equilibrium\/2011\/feb\/07\/5\">Grrl Scientist<\/a>, writing in the <em>Guardian<\/em>. If you&#8217;ve already read it, please consider writing a review on Amazon &#8211; every little helps.
