As Tyrant for Life one of my (self-appointed, obviously) responsibilities is to keep an eye on the goings-on over at our outpost in the Gamma Quadrant<\/a>. So it was that on Thursday lunchtime that I was catching up on the comment thread of Stephen’s latest post<\/a>. Something there caught my eye, and in five or ten minutes I’d used that inspiration to scribble the following poem. Enjoy!<\/p>\n

Standard Model<\/h2>\n

When a proton
\n   In desperation
\nFirst grabbed an electron
\n   And gave unwittingly
\nTo an undiscovered country
\n   Stars and water and airships
\nDid it feel
\n   In some quark-like fashion
\nThe same primal urge
\n   That keeps my heart
\nIn orbit
