Right at the top we\u2019ve got mistletoe and greenery\u2014both queried though: maybe she (definitely a \u2018she\u2019) wasn\u2019t sure if Waitrose would have them, or maybe there was already another trip planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s an interesting mix of precision here: carrots, leeks, clementines \u2026 but four bananas, two each of limes and lemons; haddock \u2026 but a general \u2018dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two cr\u00e8me fraiche (again; <a href=\"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/rpg\/2018\/12\/23\/there-are-worse-things-i-could-do\/\">with diacritics<\/a>), but a small cream.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How many baguettes? A misfiled pastry (together with the foil this makes me think she shops by aisle, although I happen to know that the cream is not near the bread, so not entirely sure what\u2019s going on there. Perhaps it\u2019s by recipe rather than aisle?).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Questions remain. What sort of wine? Why is panko underlined? Did she decide on tonic, or soda? Which paper?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance, right down at the bottom, in the middle of the page, set aside from everything else on the page, underlined &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>TURKEY<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I feel there\u2019s a metaphor in here, somewhere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I fell a bit behind with the shopping lists, which is a shame because I really wanted to show you this one before Christmas.
