{"id":222,"date":"2009-02-16T00:11:37","date_gmt":"2009-02-16T00:11:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/rpg\/2009\/02\/16\/on_heavenly_bodies\/"},"modified":"2009-02-16T00:11:37","modified_gmt":"2009-02-16T00:11:37","slug":"on_heavenly_bodies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/rpg\/2009\/02\/16\/on_heavenly_bodies\/","title":{"rendered":"On heavenly bodies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I see that Henry is giving Stephen <a href=\"http:\/\/network.nature.com\/people\/scurry\/blog\/2009\/02\/14\/chance-can-be-a-fine-thing\">lessons<\/a> in poetry.<\/p>\n<p>\nI&#8217;ve never claimed to be anything but an amateur, although a kind correspondent did give me a copy of Fry&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ode-Less-Travelled-Unlocking-Within\/dp\/1592402488\/\">The Ode Less Travelled<\/a> a couple of weeks ago. Rather like my scientific career, my lack of training hasn&#8217;t stopped me\u2014I&#8217;ve written previously about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lablit.com\/article\/374\">depression<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lablit.com\/article\/417\">sex<\/a>, both published at LabLit.com because they draw heavily on scientific imagery  (and there&#8217;s an essay about that brewing).<\/p>\n<p>\nAnd now there&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lablit.com\/article\/471\">new one<\/a>. The accompanying photograph is of Hale-Bopp, which I snapped from the garden of a house <a href=\"http:\/\/www.headington.org.uk\/history\/famous_people\/lewis.htm\">two doors<\/a> up from where <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joy_Davidman\">Joy Davidman<\/a> once lived.
