Opening the garden door didn&#8217;t frighten the little bugger away: he just sat on the grass chittering at me. <\/p>\n<p>\nAs I don&#8217;t have any explosives to hand (all thoughts of hippy greenness vanish like morning mist when one&#8217;s crops are <a href=\"http:\/\/network.nature.com\/people\/UE19877E8\/blog\/2009\/05\/25\/in-which-i-nuke-the-bastards\">under threat<\/a>) I&#8217;ve had to take a more subtle approach.<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pommiebastards\/3581939686\/\" title=\"IMG_0199 by Pommiebastards, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3660\/3581939686_2aedb0e7e9.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_0199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\nI&#8217;m using pieces of bamboo (it grows in my garden, happily) to create a miniature obstacle course. <\/p>\n<p>\nUnfortunately I haven&#8217;t been able to sharpen the points, nor find suitable poisons to coat the tips. I&#8217;m a little worried that a simply physical barrier isn&#8217;t enough.
