\nA tweet from mjrobbins<\/a> (also at the Lay Scientist<\/a>) left me quite unable to work, this morning. I was seriously angered and sickened. <\/p>\n \nWhatever your views on female genital mutilation<\/a>–cutting of the clitoris and\/or external genitalia–it’s probably safe to say that the psychological impact of having large genitals probably isn’t that serious (and if it is, well, that says more about the people looking, doesn’t it?). After all, we don’t lop off the glans of boys who have large penises, do we? <\/p>\n \nSo mutilating small girls like this is pretty abhorrent. But it’s happening, at–of all places– Cornell University<\/a>.<\/p>\n \nUnder the guise of medical research<\/a>.<\/p>\n \nAnd, well, that’s bad enough. But then the so-called urologist who does this then ‘follows up’ by stimulating the clits of these girls (their average age is four and a half, by the way), with what is essentially a vibrator.<\/p>\n \nI mean, sorry to say it, but what the fuck<\/em>?<\/p>\n \nI’m not sure whether the fact that Dix Poppas<\/a>‘ (seriously) co-authors are women makes this any better or worse.
