{"id":1587,"date":"2011-12-17T21:10:35","date_gmt":"2011-12-17T21:10:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/vwxynot\/?p=1587"},"modified":"2011-12-17T21:10:35","modified_gmt":"2011-12-17T21:10:35","slug":"hockey-pool-week-11-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/vwxynot\/2011\/12\/17\/hockey-pool-week-11-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Hockey pool, week 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">HO<\/span><\/strong>ckey <strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">HO<\/span><\/strong>ckey <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">HO<\/span><\/strong>ckey, it&#8217;s the Christmas pool update!<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to Santa&#8217;s little helpers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nottobetrustedwithknives.com\/2011\/12\/03\/hockey-pool-week-9\/\">Beth<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nature.com\/boboh\/2011\/12\/12\/vwxy-hockey-pool-week-10-and-reproducible-research\">Bob<\/a>\u00a0for hosting the week 9 and 10 updates, respectively. Now, what happened this week?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/vwxynot\/files\/2011\/12\/chart_1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1588\" src=\"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/vwxynot\/files\/2011\/12\/chart_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"371\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well, I kicked ass, for starters! This is the third time in four weeks that I&#8217;ve had the top (or joint top) score for the week, and I&#8217;m back near the top where I so clearly belong. Lavaland and Ricardipus also had strong weeks and managed to maintain their overall lead over me; pool leader Modscientist, on the other hand, had a bit of a rough week and is grimly hanging on to a one point lead as the chasing pack bays for blood.<\/p>\n<p>In the middle of the group, ScientistMother&#8217;s random picks didn&#8217;t work out so well, allowing Bob, Gerty, Chall and me to pass her. Meanwhile, Beth and Mr E Man continue to fight for the bottom of what they seem to have mistaken for a diving pool; Mr E Man is currently winning.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t imagine anyone will want to host next week&#8217;s update given the proximity to the holidays (please speak up if I&#8217;m mistaken!), so who wants to host a double update on or around New Year&#8217;s Eve?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HOckey HOckey HOckey, it&#8217;s the Christmas pool update!
