Maybe they just included a cool technique to make their grant application sexier.<br \/>\nNIH grant <a href=\"http:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants\/guide\/rfa-files\/RFA-DA-09-022.html\">RFA<\/a> that I spotted yesterday:<br \/>\n<strong>Biosignatures of Chronic Drug Exposure (R21)<\/strong><br \/>\nFrom the website:<br \/>\n1. Research Objectives<br \/>\nOn September 5, 2007 NIDA held a workshop \u201cIn Search of Signatures of Chronic Drug Use\u201d to discuss whether or not it might be possible to detect a molecular signature\/profile in peripheral tissue that would indicate prior chronic drug use and could serve the following important goals:<br \/>\n&#8211; Identification of patients predisposed to repeated drug use, critical for early intervention strategies<br \/>\n&#8211; Revealing the natural history\/pathogenesis of addiction, and thus suggesting points of intervention<br \/>\n&#8211; Assessment of disease progression, other than clinical evaluation.<br \/>\nHmmmm.
