The moon was referred to as &#8220;another world&#8221;, as in (and I paraphrase) &#8220;[some robot that landed on the moon] was the first [robot thingy. Lander?] to bring back [stuff] from another world&#8221;[2].<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve never really thought about this before, but now that it&#8217;s on my mind, I&#8217;d say that my concept of what <em>this<\/em> world is, <em>includes<\/em> the moon.<br \/>\n(It <em>definitely<\/em> includes tides, too, but probably not werewolves).<br \/>\nMy concept of what this world is may be incorrect in an astronomical sense, but it feels right in a cultural and human sense. I mean, a world without a moon? That&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Places_in_The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy#Krikkit\"><del>Krikkit<\/del><\/a> just not cricket!<\/p>\n<p class=\"footnote\"><sup>1<\/sup> from July 2008; I have a <em>slight<\/em> backlog<\/p>\n<p class=\"footnote\"><sup>2<\/sup> it was very, very early this morning<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Before work this morning, I read part of an article in New Scientist[1] about the history and future of unmanned lunar exploration.
