Below is a list of 100 things that I think every good omnivore should have tried at least once in their life. The list includes fine food, strange food, everyday food and even some pretty bad food &#8211; but a good omnivore should really try it all. Don\u2019t worry if you haven\u2019t, mind you; neither have I, though I\u2019ll be sure to work on it. Don\u2019t worry if you don\u2019t recognise everything in the hundred, either; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Main_Page\">Wikipedia<\/a> has the answers&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Here\u2019s what I want you to do:<br \/>1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.<br \/>2) Bold all the items you\u2019ve eaten.<br \/>3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.<br \/>4) Optional extra: Post a comment here at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.verygoodtaste.co.uk\/\">http:\/\/www.verygoodtaste.co.uk\/<\/a> linking to your results&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Venison <\/strong>hel-<em>lo<\/em>, I used to live in Scotland. One pub we went to had a herd of deer hanging around outside, waiting for scraps, and lots and lots of venison on the menu. Coincidence?<br \/><strong>2.<\/strong> <strong>Nettle tea<\/strong> I think it was actually raspberry and nettle or some such<br \/><strong>3. Huevos rancheros<\/strong><br \/><strong>4. Steak tartare<\/strong> in France<br \/>5. Crocodile &#8211; no, but I&#8217;ve had alligator, twice. The first time I enjoyed it, the second, not so much.<br \/><strong>6. Black pudding <\/strong>hel-<em>lo<\/em>, I&#8217;m from Northern England&#8230; although I did stop eating this for a while after I learned what&#8217;s in it. Then I got over myself and remembered how tasty it is.<br \/><strong>7. Cheese fondue<\/strong><br \/>8. Carp<br \/>9. Borscht<br \/><strong>10. Baba ghanoush<\/strong><br \/><strong>11. Calamari<\/strong><br \/><strong>12. Pho<\/strong><br \/><strong>13. PB&amp;J sandwich <\/strong><br \/><strong>14. Aloo gobi<\/strong><br \/><strong>15. Hot dog from a street cart<\/strong><br \/>16. Epoisses<br \/>17. Black truffle &#8211; a shocking omission that I hope to correct some day<br \/><strong>18. Fruit wine made from something other than grapes<\/strong><br \/><strong>19. Steamed pork buns <\/strong><br \/><strong>20. Pistachio ice cream<\/strong><br \/><strong>21. Heirloom tomatoes<\/strong><br \/><strong>22. Fresh wild berries <\/strong><br \/><s>23. Foie gras<\/s><br \/><strong>24. Rice and beans<\/strong><br \/><s>25. Brawn, or head cheese<\/s> I see this in the deli sometimes and give it a wide berth. I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s in it, but the look and the name are enough to put me off for life.<br \/><s>26. Raw Scotch Bonnet pepper<\/s> I like spicy &#8211; within reasonable limits<br \/>27. Dulce de leche<br \/><strong>28. Oysters<br \/>29. Baklava<\/strong><br \/>30. Bagna cauda<br \/><strong>31. Wasabi peas <\/strong>by the bagful!<br \/><strong>32. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl<\/strong> Mmmmm, San Francisco<br \/>33. Salted lassi<br \/><strong>34. Sauerkraut<br \/>35. Root beer float<\/strong> not a big fan &#8211; I&#8217;m not sure why some people like to drink something that tastes like cough medicine<br \/>36. Cognac with a fat cigar<br \/><strong>37. Clotted cream tea<br \/>38. Vodka jelly\/Jell-O<br \/>39. Gumbo &shy;<br \/>40. Oxtail<br \/>41. Curried goat<\/strong> goat is TASTY<br \/><strong>42. Whole insects<\/strong> but never intentionally, cycling will do that for you<br \/>43. Phaal &#8211; I would probably have a tiny taste, but no more. My husband would love it!<br \/>44. Goat&#8217;s milk<br \/><strong>45. Malt whisky from a bottle worth $60\/$120 or more<\/strong> at a wrap party, of course!<br \/><s>46. Fugu<\/s> I&#8217;ve seen the Simpsons &#8211; &#8220;poison, poison, tasty fish!&#8221;<br \/><strong>47. Chicken tikka masala<\/strong> national dish of England these days &#8211; more units sold than fish&#8217;n&#8217;chips. And quite rightly so.<br \/><strong>48. Eel<\/strong> I like sushi so much, I named one of my cats after my favourite kind<br \/>49. Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut<br \/>50. Sea urchin<br \/><strong>51. Prickly pear<\/strong><br \/>52. Umeboshi<br \/>53. Abalone &#8211; it&#8217;s possible, as part of some kind of mixed sushi roll, but I&#8217;m not sure.<br \/><strong>54. Paneer<\/strong><br \/><s>55. McDonald&#8217;s Big Mac Meal<\/s> &#8211; even just a Big Mac by itself is too much for me!<br \/><strong>56. Spaetzle<\/strong><br \/>57. Dirty gin martini<br \/><strong>58. Beer above 8% ABV<\/strong> there are other kinds? \ud83d\ude09<br \/>59. Poutine &#8211; another shocking omission, you can get it here but I&#8217;m saving it for my next trip to Quebec<br \/><strong>60. Carob chips<\/strong> &#8211; never again<br \/><strong>61. S&#8217;mores<\/strong><br \/><s>62. Sweetbreads<\/s><br \/><s>63. Kaolin<\/s> WHY??!!<br \/>64. Currywurst<br \/><s>65. Durian<\/s> I don&#8217;t want to eat anything deemed too stinky to be allowed in certain buildings. Oh, and the durian ice cream at our local gelato place is kept separately and very well sealed &#8211; not a good sign<br \/>66. Frogs&#8217; legs<br \/><strong>67. Beignets, churros, elephant ears or funnel cake<br \/>68. Haggis <\/strong>I refer you to my answer to #1. I actually really really like haggis.<br \/><strong>69. Fried plantain<\/strong><br \/><s>70. Chitterlings, or andouillette<\/s><br \/><strong>71. Gazpacho<br \/>72. Caviar and blini<br \/><\/strong>73. Louche absinthe<br \/>74. Gjetost, or brunost<br \/>75. Roadkill &#8211; never tried it, but then I&#8217;ve never hit a deer or other tasty mammal.<br \/>76. Baijiu<br \/>77. Hostess Fruit Pie<br \/><strong>78. Snail<\/strong><br \/>79. Lapsang souchong &#8211; never heard of it before but the Wiki entry makes it sound yummy<br \/><strong>80. Bellini<br \/>81. Tom yum<br \/>82. Eggs Benedict<br \/>83. Pocky<br \/><\/strong>84. Tasting menu at a three-Michelin-star restaurant &#8211; one day maybe!<br \/>85. Kobe beef &#8211; would love to try it<br \/><strong>86. Hare<\/strong> in France<br \/><strong>87. Goulash<br \/>88. Flowers<\/strong> as a kid<br \/><strong>89. Horse<\/strong> in France, in sausages<br \/>90. Criollo chocolate<br \/><strong>91. Spam<\/strong> spammity spam, wonderful spam<br \/><strong>92. Soft shell crab<br \/><\/strong>93. Rose harissa &#8211; again the Wiki page makes it sound great!<br \/><strong>94. Catfish<\/strong><br \/><strong>95. Mole poblano<br \/>96. Bagel and lox<\/strong> hel-<em>lo, <\/em>I live in Vancouver<br \/>97. Lobster Thermidor &#8211; lots of regular lobster when I was in Nova Scotia though. Oh, and at wrap parties, obviously \ud83d\ude09<br \/><strong>98. Polenta<\/strong><br \/><strong>99. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee<br \/><\/strong>100.
