{"id":307,"date":"2008-11-06T02:37:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-06T02:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/vwxynot\/2008\/11\/06\/follow-up\/"},"modified":"2008-11-06T02:37:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-06T02:37:00","slug":"follow-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/occamstypewriter.org\/vwxynot\/2008\/11\/06\/follow-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Follow-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One week on from my one and only chance to <a href=\"http:\/\/vwxynot.blogspot.com\/2008\/10\/believe-it-or-not.html\">argue<\/a> with a McCain-Palin supporter, I had the following text message exchange with our poker game (and Halloween party) host:<\/p>\n<p>Friend: &#8220;Poker tonight gang&#8221;<br \/>Me: &#8220;Is [name] coming?&#8221;<br \/>Friend: &#8220;Unfortunately not, I think we broke him&#8221;<br \/>Me: &#8220;Yes we can&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks on from my description of my complicated <a href=\"http:\/\/vwxynot.blogspot.com\/2008\/10\/self-preservation-or-paranoia-you.html\">ass-covering system<\/a>, I had my annual review meeting with my supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>Paraphrased verdict: &#8220;waaaaay too much detail, please summarise this information as number of grants approved, rejected and pending.
