The paper describes a very cool new technique that allows you to see gene transcript sequences <em>as they are being made. <\/em>The authors demonstrate that this method can be used to sequence unstable, short-lived pre-modification mRNAs; quantify sense and antisense transcript abundance; identify proteins that regulate promoter directionality; and map transcription pause sites.<\/p>\n<p>Cool stuff, right?!<\/p>\n<p>(If you&#8217;re not in this field: trust me on this. It&#8217;s megasupercool).<\/p>\n<p>So, this article being in the same issue of <em>Nature<\/em> as a feature on rapid online post-publication review (&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/news\/2011\/110119\/full\/469286a.html\">Peer review: Trial by Twitter<\/a>&#8220;), I obviously had to tweet about it. I can haz sequences of gene transcripts  as they iz being maded!  Can seez what they iz looks like before nomming\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Genius! <del>Ribosome<\/del> Polymerase Kitteh iz teh LOLz!<\/p>\n<p>The Nature feature on online peer review says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Unstructured, unruly and often anonymous, online commenting can be  exasperating for biologists used to more conventional means of  discussion&#8221;.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I can&#8217;t possibly think why.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>*Full citation: Churchman LS, <a title=\"Jonathan S.
