Recent conversation…<\/p>\n

New colleague: “How’s it going?”<\/p>\n

Me: “Meh”<\/p>\n

NC: “What’s up?”<\/p>\n

Me: “I’m having some issues with [PI’s] ethics”<\/p>\n

NC, eyes widening dramatically: “OMG! What did he do<\/em>???!!!”<\/p>\n

Me: “…”<\/p>\n

Me: “[PI’s] Research Ethics Board application”.<\/em><\/p>\n

(Issues now resolved! And still no juicy gossip. But we got a grant we submitted in September! It was the most exciting proposal I’ve worked on so far in this job – which is saying a lot, because my department does some really cool stuff – and the one I was rooting for the most. Yay!)<\/p>\n
