It was the blog wot won it!

My co-stars and I are €400 richer thanks to this blog becasue I am delighted to report that our recent video was awarded first prize in the competition run by the organisers of the EuFMD Meeting on the Global Control of FMD, Tools, Ideas and Ideals (held just this past week in beautiful Sicily).

Musee del Sale, Salines, Sicily
Sunset in Sicily last Wednesday

The award was based simply on the number of hits that each entry received and our effort—shamelessly pimped on this site—was far and away the most viewed. So thanks to everyone who gave their support!

I see from YouTube’s Insight tool that most views so far have originated in the UK, though it’s relative popularity is greatest in Ethiopia!
But only 22% of viewers have been women – I guess I’ll have to learn how to increaase my appeal to that sector…

  9. Massimo Pinto says:

    Hey, congratulations!!
I guess from the picture that you were near Motia, were the sea salt production is, in the very west part of the island. What a great spot. Did you get a chance to visit Erice?

  10. Heather Etchevers says:

    Whoo-hoo!
Speaking as one of those women, I might point out that sometimes when gender is requested, we put the other one. Just to keep people on their toes and to avoid random solicitations. Of course, some people like that.

  11. Brian Clegg says:

    Mine’s a pint, Stephen.

  12. Sara Fletcher says:

Yes Massimo, the meeting was held in Erice – quite a spectacular mountain-top location (and a rather scary drive to get there – not helped by the fact that the town was shrouded in cloud when I arrived). We visited the Greek temple and theatre at Segesta – very impressive – and then the salt works (?) just to the south of Erice where we were treated to dinner, much of it salted fish!

Would you care for some salt?
Well Heather I had no idea about that dissembling strategy – curious but a bit sad that women have to protect themselves online in this way.
