Festive Tech

It’s Christmas Eve and the Curry household is getting ready for the big day. All the shopping is done and work has been put aside for a couple of days.

Now I can turn my mind to the serious business of recording the festivities. This is not something to be undertaken lightly. I am charged up and ready to go — as you can see:

Camera Gear

Also lurking in this photograph is evidence of one or two events and discussions that took place online and offline recently. Can you spot any? (They’re a bit cryptic: only Austin will be able to get one of them and people outside London are unlikely to get any of the others. )

While you set about pondering, let me wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy 2011!

And when will the mystery be revealed? That Lumix is a nice point-and-shoot camera. But why the highlighter?

Happy Christmas to you and the poppadoms, I mean the rest of the Currys.

Well spotted, M@! Been thinking that I really must put it up on the wall before the new year…

The highlighter is a decoy, Kausik – it is if no significance that I can think of. And, IMHO the Lumix is a bit more than a point and shoot – in the right hands of course!

And happy Christmas to you and Jenny, Richard! Hope it’s a good one.

    Happy Christmas, Stephen!

  6. Stephen says:

Happy Christmas Cath – you seem to have a low splort threshold… 🙂

Hope you get a chance to relax.

Does that slim back box about the size of a CD case actually say “Soylent Green” on its spine? The only reference I’ve seen recently is Tracy King’s excellent recent festive tweet yesterday: “Soylent Green is sprouts.”

    Merry Christmas to you too!

Good catch Jenny – that was the thing I expected Austin to spot, since he and Alan Henness recommended it to me on Twitter a couple of weeks ago (after Roger Highfield posted a link to the 10 best SciFi films (on which it did not feature). Snapped it up for £2.99 at play.com but haven’t yet had the time to watch it.

I guess Austin’s been busy… hardly surprising with young kids at this time of year.

    Merry Christmas!

  9. A belated Merry Xmas to one and all.

Yes, a bit manic at Chez Elliott with the Double Trouble – mainly separating them from fighting one another over the presents, and just about everything else. This year we bought mostly joint stuff to see if it made any difference, but there was none discernible. Also gets a bit wearing with the two of them jockeying for priority access to their mother’s lap. So anyway, few moments to decompress.

And actually, my eyesight is so lousy these days I wouldn’t have spotted that it said Soylent Green if Jenny hadn’t said so…!

PS Who else apart from me has the Peep Show Xmas special as the TV highlight of the season thus far?
