KristiV lives and works in San Antonio, TX, where she teaches gross anatomy, embryology, and neuroscience to medical and dental students, and evolutionary developmental biology to graduate students. She also maintains a small research laboratory through collaborations, with a focus on the topics of apoptosis and DNA damage repair in cells and tumors of the peripheral nervous system.
When not engaged in lab and lecture hall activities, KV enjoys dangerous equestrian sports, swimming, art journaling, growing vegetables in her suburban backyard and pretending that they constitute a significant portion of her diet, and attempting complex knitting patterns as if they were new experimental protocols. Occasionally she forces her rampant Anglophilia on others, by serving them tea and watercress sandwiches, and making them watch recorded episodes of Top Gear.
