Blame it on my humorless nature, but is that Wikipedia entry for real? There is such a thing as Wife Carrying for sport? Sometimes real life is far stranger than anything on TV. Maybe even stranger than CSI.
The global obesity epidemic might make it problematic for today’s Olympics.
Ye-es… because I’m surrounded by obese people (I thought I’d commented that Sydney’s obese population seems to be confined to City Rail employees, but I can’t find it anywhere).
Here’s another question that MUST be answered: what were you doing on that Wikipedia page anyway?
Yep, it’s for real, I’ve even seen film cuttings. A friend of mine was thinking of entering, with a one of the professors here as his “wife”.
The Finns have all sorts of silly competitions like this: there’s even mobile phone throwing. I think this is sponsored by Nokia, but they use Ericsson phones. The only reason I was at the site was that I wanted to point it out to an Icelandic blogger, who had blogged about the World Sauna Championships.
