WordPress updated to 3.1 today.
This resulted in some down-time for the front page of the network, although all the individual blogs seemed unaffected. The front page, and the main wp-admin pages, were blank.
I’ve found the offending plug-in that caused this, and will try to trouble-shoot the files therein individually. Fortunately it’s not terribly important.
There may also be some other weirdness around—please let me know if anything seems odd or out of place (this doesn’t include complaining about the slightly rearranged interface. That’s just tough).
yay- sorted! thanks, rpg!!
You’re most welcome!
Um… er… it looks the same to me. So well done. I think.
Possibly unrelated, but my Google Reader feed no longer shows who the authors are for each OT post.
This happened some time on Feb 20th, between Steve Caplan’s “A Working Vacation” (which is credited) and Heather’s uncredited “Expat scientists, Rare Disease Day 2011 and stupid politics” post.
As far as I recall I haven’t changed any of my Reader settings, has something changed on OT?
Hrm… are you using http://occamstypewriter.org/feed/ for the feed?
Yep, exactly that.
MT5 will fix that.
*laugh*
Mike, I’ve just checked out google reader, and no feeds appear to show authors in the list view. They’re there in the expanded view, though.
Yep. But OT feeds used to show Authors’ names in the list view, until the 20th of Feb. Mine still shows them until this date. Other ‘networks’ I take a feed from (e.g., the Panda’s Thumb) didn’t seem to show authors before or after this date.
So, something has changed somewhere, relating to OT’s link to Google reader.
And to clarify, having the authors in the list view was a feature I liked.
How odd. A feature that we didn’t know was possible.
Nope, I can’t think of anything I did that would have caused that.
Not sure if it’s related to Word Press or not, but http://scienceblogging.org/ is, once again, not listing new posts here at OT (since the 23rd).
The RSS feed (http://occamstypewriter.org/feed/) seems to be borked again, in Chrome it says
and Firefox says
Y’know, this is very odd: it *did* validate on Thursday when I checked. Anyway, I’ve added the code that should fix it, and it now validates:

Yayy, it’s back. \o/
