I know it’s not Friday, but this is too good to pass up. I’ve listened to this track dozens of times, but only today while waiting for my DNA complexes to assemble did I actually hear this lyric:
I think it’s time I got away from here
I got those West Bromwich Blues, yeah
and there ain’t not a single thing I can do
Your mission is to tell me who is the artist, what’s the track, and—critically, perhaps—name the album.
And no googling.
It’s the right bit of the country for Black Sabbath, but doesn’t sound quite like them.
Ah, that’ll be because it i’n’t.
Won’t give he game away but couldn’t help googling and was surprised by the result. I knew the song – the chorus at least – but not the lyric…!
It seems to be only on that particular recording, too, Stephen.
Without Googling, I’d say it was the Electric Light Orchestra. They did a song called Birmingham Blues on their terrifi album (heavens! I almost said pop platter) Out Of The Bolue.
It is a matter of some pride that I only have one ELO track in my iTunes collection.
And those lyrics don’t appear in it. At least, I don’t think so.
My first instinct was Birmingham Blues as well. And you should be ashamed of yourself for only having one ELO track, Richard. Out of the
BalooBlue really is a top notch long-playing gramophone record.I’ll have to go and google it now. And tune into OtB on my i.
Please turn over.
Well, given that I tried listening to Mr Blue Sky and didn’t like it, is there any point?
I wonder if it’s something by Robert Plant?
Probably not. But the next advance for NN is surely the ability to share iTunes over their network.
One of you two is right: the other dreadfully, terribly Wrong.
Who will it be, I wonder?
I found the answer to be a whole lotta surprise
I think Brian has it.
