Remember Eureka? Bora’s been trying to get hold of it. But the word on the street is that he’s going to really really try to come to Science Online London this year (um, Victor, we really need to change the date on that site), and would love to look at it.
I’m going to start collecting copies henceforth (if only so we can rag on it in the LabLit podcast); but if anyone has any back issues they’d be willing to part with, if you can get them to me I’ll pass them onto the big BZ in summer.
Thanks!
I flipped through the most recent issue on the newsstand on Friday but my quick perusal didn’t tempt me to part with hard-earned cash.
Damn. When I went to get your creamcakes I completely forgot about looking for it. I’d like to say that a quid every fortnight (month? How often is this thing out anyway?) would be worth it in the interests of science (besides, if they see they sell one more Times on the day they publish a science supplement other publishers might take notice)—but really I’m hoping to bribe Bora to lead a sess. at SOLO10.
I shall hide the copies I acquire under my A History of the English-Speaking Peoples so you don’t have to see them. Except when we take one out to laugh at it.
I have got all the backissues. Why, you might ask, given my views on this publication? As I am still feeling guilty for not yet having sent Jenny the first issue as offered, I’ll reveal here that it is because the Professor in the house wants to read them. However, being a Prof, he’s permanently swamped. So these Eurekas are piling up. I am afraid at this rate he will not have read them by August 2010 (or whenever) but one can but hope.
An alternative – ask Mark Henderson for a set. I am sure he’d be delighted to oblige in such a noble cause.
I shall take your advice and ask Mark (not that he ever answers emails—but maybe he’ll take notice of twitter!).
Failing that, you might get a call from BZ sometime later in the year…
Meantime, apropos another thread, I have neither crumpets nor egg and cress or cucumber sandwiches, but I do have a bowl of Bombay Mix to share.
@Maxine – being a Prof, he’s permanently swamped..
Now I’m worried! What does he think of profs with the time to blog, I wonder?
He doesn’t have time to think about that, Stephen.
I don’t think he knows what a blog is, so you are safe from such thoughts, Stephen…
Now, that’s funny, because the Scholarly Kitchen thinks he’s just the sort of person who should blog.

What are you trying to do, create fossil fuels in your
salonbathroomlibrary?We get all kinds of imported newspapers here in this town… I wonder if Eureka would be included? I wonder if I can be bothered to look?
