On shameless meta-blogging

blushes

I missed this when I first saw it, but I’m a finalist in the Best Blog — Philosophy, Research, or Scholarship category. The nominated post is my rant on PR.

Vote early; vote often. If you can be arsed, of course.

Hm. Voting not be open yet… plz to ping when it is and I will be happy to oblige.
Also – ye gods that’s a lot of science blogs. I think I recognized about three of them, including one very boring and tedious one that is much more like a flood of bloggorhea related to science. I’m not naming names though.

  2. Richard P. Grant says:

Very magnanimous of you, old bean.

  3. Eva Amsen says:

Does nobody read the small print anymore? Voting only open to registered Research Blogging users, it says, and also that you’ll get an e-mail once you can vote if you are registered. I think I am, but I’l double check.

  4. Eva Amsen says:

Oh, and congrats, of course. (I am SO bad at compliments/congrats/syaing-nice-things. I always need to actively remember that you have to say/type niceties and not just quietly think them, otherwise people won’t know.)

  5. Richard P. Grant says:

    Heh, thanks.
Why is it that it’s my off-the-cuff rants that get nominated for these sorts of things? Is someone trying to tell me something?

That you’re good at off-the-cuff ranting? 😉 You could put that on your CV under “Have been nominated for awards for…” but calling your skill “philosophy, research, scholarship” makes it sound even more impressive!
Well done in any case. I thought your blog post provoked a really interesting discussion.

Eh? Sorry, self-exploding whales are more interesting.

  9. Richard Wintle says:

    Ick.
Also – sorry RPG, guess I won’t be able to vote after all…
Oh, and, in the manner of Eva, belated congratulations from over here too.

Maybe it’s that thing where science communicator advice types keep saying that scientists should show more emotion…???

  11. Stephen Curry says:

Hey – congrats Richard. Best of luck! (I believe I am registered).

  12. steffi suhr says:

    Urgh, Bob!! Congrats, Richard.

  13. Jennifer Rohn says:

Hey – what do you reckon you got in for, Philosophy, Research or Scholarship?
Congrats for getting some Nature Network on that list! First Research Blogging, tomorrow, the World.

  14. Richard P. Grant says:

Thanks all. I mean, really, I didn’t think it was that good (and it certainly didn’t appear to be very popular here, given the number of comments). But I’m not cavilling–it is nice to see NN getting recognition, and if I win $50 I promise to spend it on pints for London-based NNbloggers.
It certainly wasn’t very good Research or Scholarship so I reckon it must have been Philosophy. AKA “making shit up”.

  15. Alejandro Correa says:

    Congratulations Richard.

  16. Alyssa Gilbert says:

    Congratulations!
