   The following is a true story. I saw to publication in Nature a paper about ancient DNA from a Cretaceous beetle (I believe that the evidence has since been called into question – these were the early barnstorming days of aDNA). The paper happened to come out in the same week that Jurassic Park was released in the USA. I was but dimly aware of this and hadn’t made the connection. Journalists who asked me this simply refused to believe that this was the honest truth. Come off it, they said, it’s a set-up. The more I protested otherwise, the more they were convinced that I was being disingenuous.
