I’m an empiricist. I like to test hypotheses.
Following Heather’s “suggestion”:http://network.nature.com/people/UE19877E8/blog/2008/09/29/in-which-science-becomes-a-sport-–-hypothetically-speaking#comment-18142 of using Facebook to make three updates a day, I’ve been what is essentially ‘live-blogging’ my work day. It strikes me that this is essentially Open Notebook science, but less so.
To make things easier—keep everything in one place, provide the ability to link and upload photos, search meaningfully, get away from all the Facebook-related crap etc.—I’ve created a new Friendfeed room at http://friendfeed.com/rooms/science-sport. Anyone can join, so if you’re interested just post a snippet from your lab book, or whatever.
I’ve summarized my day to start things off. Those of us worried about giving too much away should be able to figure how to post stuff without, ah, giving too much away. That sentence really had nowhere to run to, did it?

Did you have any problems coming up with news flashes, as you were afraid you might?
Not really, but it was very ‘samey’ yesterday. Today will be more typical, perhaps. (Have you read the FF updates?)
