  3. Eric Michael Johnson says:

You may think it’s funny now, but in the original A.A. Milne book the entire “enchanted neighborhood” was wiped out when a particularly blustery day spread the H1N1 virus throughout the forest:

Piglet lay there, wondering what had happened. At first he thought that the whole world had blown up; and then he thought that perhaps only the forest part of it had; and then he thought that perhaps only he had, and he was now alone in the moon or somewhere, and he would never see Christopher Robin or Pooh or Eeyore again. And then he thought, “Well, even if I’m in the moon, I needn’t be face downwards all the time,” so he got cautiously up and looked about him.

The toddler photo has been making the e-mail rounds here, and I think it has also been featured on Cute Overload. And who doesn’t know toddlers who kiss friendly pigs, dogs, cats, horses, cows, etc.? Good for the developing immune system, methinks. 😉

I used the Pooh picture in a talk at a surgery conference over the weekend.
