HOckey HOckey HOckey, it’s the Christmas pool update!
Many thanks to Santa’s little helpers Beth and Bob for hosting the week 9 and 10 updates, respectively. Now, what happened this week?
Well, I kicked ass, for starters! This is the third time in four weeks that I’ve had the top (or joint top) score for the week, and I’m back near the top where I so clearly belong. Lavaland and Ricardipus also had strong weeks and managed to maintain their overall lead over me; pool leader Modscientist, on the other hand, had a bit of a rough week and is grimly hanging on to a one point lead as the chasing pack bays for blood.
In the middle of the group, ScientistMother’s random picks didn’t work out so well, allowing Bob, Gerty, Chall and me to pass her. Meanwhile, Beth and Mr E Man continue to fight for the bottom of what they seem to have mistaken for a diving pool; Mr E Man is currently winning.
I don’t imagine anyone will want to host next week’s update given the proximity to the holidays (please speak up if I’m mistaken!), so who wants to host a double update on or around New Year’s Eve?
I can do it, as long as you prompt me once or twice.
And – yes, that was an epic week for you… and for Jason Spezza of course.
My picks this week are a bit wacky, running into cap problems again.

I don’t seem to be having cap problems this year – last year I kept hitting the cap and having to rejig my lineup, but this time it just hasn’t been a problem.
Update – I am winning. For today, anyway.

Sigh. It’s definitely the silly season.
Oh, yeah. We have hokey pokey ice cream in New Zealand. Thought I better mention that.
Huh – you use the North American Hokey Pokey in NZ? I thought most of the English-speaking Commonwealth used the UK Hokey Cokey version.
What’s in that ice cream?

ahh….. it’s sop not going well for me 🙁 sulky me.
Anyway, I can host if R doesn’t want to… but I can always do week after that! As for this week’s picks – i have sort of given up since Leafs are falling…. Canucks are…well… and other things aren’t going well either. Can you tell i’m grumpy?!

Chall – you must set aside your loyalties if you wish to succeed, grasshopper. Pick the players who are playing a lot of games and near the top of the standings, not the ones on teams you like.
Or you could just do like Bob and pick only Scandinavians, that seems to be working out ok for him. 😉

I’m picking my fave teams and the Swedes 🙂 sort of… but yes, I am not a star…. That’ll all be ok though, if Leafs make the playoffs ^^
