Sun Peaks certainly lived up to its name while we were there!
That’s hubby (or, as he shall be known from now on, Mr E Man – see what I did there?) on the far left, with his sister, and me on the far right, with her husband. The two wee boys are our nephews, who put everyone to shame (and terrified their mother) by going down double black diamond moguls with no fear, and the other guy is a friend who may or may not be able to provide me with video footage once he’s found the right cable and done some editing.
I did not do the double black diamond moguls, but I did do my first ever black diamond – a short and relatively easy groomed run with 3 inches of good fresh snow on it. I didn’t do it very well, gracefully or quickly, but I did it. Now I never have to do one again. If people start bugging me, I shall simply reply that of course I can do black diamond runs, I just choose not to. Then I can go zipping down some lovely cruisy bluesies.

I’m jealous. I love skiing, but haven’t had a chance to go in a few years. Sigh.
Ooh yes, it was fun. I love skiing too and we don’t get to go nearly often enough – hence my inability to ski the steep stuff very well. I will always trail behind the people who learned when they were kids!
You know, I’ve never been skiing. I’ll have to try it sometime!
I highly recommend it! Learning as an adult is not ideal – most of my friends learned as kids and I’ll never be able to catch up to them – but it’s definitely possible to reach a stage where you can actually enjoy yourself within about 4- 5 lessons. They say snowboarding has a steeper learning curve, so it’s harder at first but you get good quicker. I only experienced the first part of that equation and quickly gave up!
