More fun with dialogue boxes

Continuing this week’s theme
Dear Microsoft,
Please can you insert code into Outlook that scans all outgoing messages for phrases such as “here is” and “is attached”, and triggers the following dialogue box when I press Send?
“There is text in this message that indicates the need for an attachment. However you have not attached any files to this email, you dumbass. Attach your very important file before sending this email to your bigwig colleagues?”
Yes, the inevitable follow up email annoys them / No, my incompetence amuses them
Thank you kindly.

Hilarious. That feature would be ridiculously useful. I think it is time for everyone to invest in text mining/software development.

  2. Åsa Karlström says:

wow, I’d sign up for it. Did this last week…. resent the email with the attachment and almost didn’t write “sorry, here is the attachment”. Such a silly, pathetic mistake.
Good luck! And if you get the program, I’d be willing to talk about getting it 😉

“Are you sure that you wish to Reply to all?
Some recipients may not care to know that you will miss the committee meeting tomorrow because of your scheduled colonoscopy/teeth cleaning/gynecological exam/kidney stone removal/prostate exam (choose one) appointment.”
Yes, I want them all to know, and I plan to live-blog the experience/ No, are you kidding?

  4. Jennifer Rohn says:

I already coined a phrase for this tendency:
    Attachia

  5. Bob O'Hara says:

    There’s probably …
    checks
There already is an add-on in Thunderbird to do this:

  6. Cath Ennis says:

Kristi, that would be another great feature – might stop the completely pointless group replies I keep getting.
    Jen, I like it!
Bob, what is this magnificent Thunderbird of which you speak? I wish to sign up but will probably not be allowed. I’m not even allowed to download Google toolbar at work, or to upgrade from IE6. Not even to IE7.

  7. Bob O'Hara says:

Thunderbird is the email companion to Firefox. Allowing people to create add-ons is great, I have all sorts of useful additions. Like this indispensable tool.

  8. Cath Ennis says:

I will be SOL at work then. Shame.

  9. Frank Norman says:

    Attachia
    Bless you.

  10. Anna Kushnir says:

Looks like Google is thinking about just such a feature! Yay. Would be so nice to have it in gmail.

  11. Cath Ennis says:

Yeah, I saw that in their blog! Gmail rocks.
