I am so easily amused

You know how you sometimes get the feeling that people are really stretching to make their acronym fit their project?
Well, the following NIH grant RFA actually did a pretty good job:

    My favourite acronym is BRAHMS, for Bath Rock and Heavy Metal Society.

    MaRS, where my lab is, was apparently just called that for random reasons. Then they made up “Medical and Related Sciences” and went with that as acronym for a while, but it’s now back to just being a weirdly capitalized name.

    I like it!
    I had a friend applying to random odd jobs to pay rent when she graduated, including “Account Service Specialist.” I thought it was an interesting choice job title…
    And the “Moro Islamic Liberation Front” … that was just an unfortunate coincidence on their part.
