Mmmm, pork pie

This is just a quick update before I spend the day wandering the streets of London trying not to think of Ralf McTell. I’m alive, and so are those bloggers I’ve bumped into over the last couple of days. Some have even been having a good time.

Would you question the authority of this man?
Yesterday was the live animals, at the zoo. Today is the dead ones, at the NHM. They don’t move around so should be easier to photograph.

I am being very still today. So far as I know, nobody has photographed me.
How is the Beast? When will you be reunited?

  2. Bob O'Hara says:

I think the trick to getting photographed is to have a crumbling pork pie on a knife.
I’m still in London, and won’t be re-united with the Beast for over a week. I hope he’s OK – and that he might still remember who I am.

I have an idea there have been recent discussions on memory in animals, cats even, possibly on this very Network. Where’s another comment thread when you need one? 😉
(Maybe it is in that impressively mammoth “nature of consciousness” thread somewhere, but I don’t have a spare 5 hours.)
I wonder if there is any relationship between length of time you/Beast have known each other, and his ability to remember you.
Better carry a crumbling pork pie , Professor Steve Steve , a ripe sardine with you on your first re-encounter, just to be on the safe side. One thing I do recall about Beasts, they are loyal to those who feed them. Sensible creatures.

Aargh! Those strikes did not show in preview! They apply only to the crumbling pork pie and Professor Steve Steve.

  5. Bob O'Hara says:

Prof. Steve has had enough trouble recently with being viewed as food. I last saw him in a bar in Euston, which is rarely a good sign.
