I've taken to claiming that the 4th of July is called Thanksgiving in the UK. Celebrating the time when we finally got rid of that waste of space to our west.
LOL!I spent a summer in Ohio when I was 20, and enjoyed an excellent 4th of July parade / fireworks display / general festivities in Columbus. A couple of people heard my accent and asked if we celebrated the 4th of July in England… d'oh! (I've had Americans ask me if we celebrate Thanksgiving, too. Nothing like knowing the origins of your holidays…)
