I am the champion!! I am the champion!!

OK, that’s all the socialization time I’m allowed for June. See you in July?

  2. Bob O'H says:

Looks like I did my Holland impressionflatlined to the bottom. Still, I’ll do better next year.

How unlike the Home Life of our own Dear Queen.

  4. 1. Who is Cath?
    2. I beat Bob! I beat Bob! Ok, gotta find a silver lining somewhere.
    3. July? Don’t be silly. In July you will start the Genome Canada full application(s). You know this. You have foreseen it. I know what it is you saw, for it is also in my mind. /LOTR

I’m in the middle, I’m in the middle 🙂 (i.e. not last)

    Congrats Beth!!

Cath: You know, it’s almost July (panick attack over here “there was so many things I was going to do!!!) and soon Christmas is rolling around. I’m sure you’ll find routine until then, right? 😉 Hang in there – it’s soon back to normal and you’ll miss parental units and all the chaos…. See you soon!

  6. Beth, sounds good! I’ll email you – assuming we both survive June.

Bob, at least you didn’t lose the bracket 🙂

Cromer, if I ever fulfill my ambition of becoming Governor General of Canada, I might get to find out!

Richard, la la la, I’m not listening to you, la la la…

Yeah, it will be an all-hands-on-deck situation, depending on how many pre-applications make it through (I understand that most of the culling will be done at this stage rather than at the full application stage). I guess we’ll find out on July 6th, which is the day my parents fly home!

Oh well, at least if I’m working on a Genome Canada grant I’ll be able to a) sleep through the night without being woken up by my parents going to the bathroom at least once each per night, usually around 3 am and/or 4:30 am (there’s only one bathroom and it’s right next to our bedroom); b) get to sleep in the first place without people watching TV and talking approximately 3 feet from my head (the living room is also right next to our bedroom and my parents get up / go to bed much later than we do); c) play whatever music I want without having to justify my generation’s preferences; d) read blogs and other sites / play Angry Birds Space without someone looking over my shoulder saying “what are you reading / doing?”; e) listen to podcasts or watch TV of my choice instead of having to watch (and explain) 3-4 hours of news broadcasts a day; f) drink tea without endless comments about “I don’t know how you can drink it that strong and with that little milk!), etc…

Chall, yeah, I’ll miss them when they leave. Although maybe not for the first week or so 🙂

I’m trying to encourage them to move to Vancouver Island, which they love… more frequent, shorter visits would be much better. But they don’t want to leave my sister by herself.

“without someone looking over my shoulder saying “what are you reading / doing?””

*recognizing laugh* It’s just like that, isn’t it? As for the tea, yes. Endless small comments (called small talk maybe?) that I’ve not engaged in for awhile…. but golly, I do miss them now when they aren’t visiting anymore. Vancouver Island would be awesome! It’s a great place. But yeah, it’s far from UK…. As for my parentals, the lack of driver license make it slightly harder to find a good place to live in in the US…. ^^
