First of all, many thanks to everyone who’s shared the update posting burden! I’m happy to take it from here as we enter the final couple of weeks, but your help is greatly appreciated – the pool became a bit of a chore last year, but not this time! I think having more players also helped to keep things a bit more interesting!
On to this week’s update!

Overall standings
Lavaland accrued the most points this week and increased her lead at the top of the rankings, while Bob put in a strong showing for the week, but only managed to make up a single point on second-placed Ricardipus. ScientistMother had an awesome week too, and made up a lot of the ground between her and me – she actually passed me on Saturday, but I managed to pick up a few points in Sunday’s games and just edged it back into fourth place. ScientistMother’s excellent week left Chall stuck in no-man’s land, and while I hate to count any chickens when it comes to sport, I think that Gerty and Thomas are unlikely to win the pool this year.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m off to completely re-think my team due to Kopitar’s nasty injury and the Canucks’ rather sparse schedule for the week!
Will the pool continue through the playoffs?
ScientistMother had a great week – even with Ovi sitting out! I was pretty scared the all the week!

Yeah, ScientistMother TOTALLY scared me this week – I was soooo relieved to pick up those points last night and reclaim 4th spot! Yay, Kesler et al!
BTW, I thought the Canucks were only playing two games this week, but we have three – Saturday is April 1st, so the game wasn’t showing up on the March schedule I looked at. D’OH! At least I can justify keeping my three lovely Canucks though!
CRAP. Another week that I didn’t manage to update my picks. Stupid manuscript. *sigh* Anyway, at this point I think it may be mathmatically impossible to win this thing. Hopefully I can manage to stay ahead of Thomas, though 🙂

I’ve been in another pool for 3 years now on CBC… I’m pretty certain they do playoffs, surprised sportsnet doesn’t! It’s pretty much the same as this one, only you can ‘star’ players for double points and get 2 goalies.
(You need a canadian address, but they’ll take anything… been using a friends address this year )

Rats. I think second place is going to be where I finish up, because Lavaland keeps beating me during critical weeks (like, most of them). 😉
Bob had a smokin’ week – I’m still a good way out front though. And well done ScientistMother, that was impressive too.
Cath – you do know that hovering over players in the “picks” list shows how many games they’re scheduled for, right? 😉
This week should be interesting – lots of “good” options to pick from as many of the top players are playing three or four games. Tough to keep under that points cap…

Ricardipus, yes, I do know that, thanks! 🙂 Actually, that’s how I spotted that I’d read the game calendar on the Canucks iPhone app incorrectly – I hovered over Danny Sedin before deleting him, just to check, and spotted that we have three games, not two. So I kept him.
i’m sticking with my swede/fave teams/something arbitrary so …. don’t think i have too much hope anymore. if nothing else, I might be able to pull off my old old canucks tshirt (11 years and counting) once the play off start?! 😉
