Congratulations Bean-Mom – please let me know to which email address you’d like me to send your Amazon gift certificate!

Beth – dude – second place three years in a row! If I see you tonight I’ll buy you a bonus prize in liquid format, because really, that’s almost more impressive than winning!

Many thanks to everyone who voted! Personally I prefer the top three choices approach to the single vote I’ve used in previous years, because I think it approaches a fairer representation; several people have mentioned in the past that it’s really hard to pick just one comment, especially when the options can be so different in type, length, and tone. However, the number of votes was way down (by more than 50%, once I’d disqualified a couple of entries that ignored the “vote for three different comments as your first, second and third choices” rule), so maybe I should revert just to be more inclusive, or maybe move the vote to a less busy time of year. What do you guys think? If anything? 😉

  1. I think you should do it whenever it works for you

  2. 1. Well done Bean-Mom!

    2. I think your proportional representation voting system works well. Much more tricky than simply clicking on one fave. 🙂

    3. Is there some code in your list? Certain words are underlined in red:

    Wintle – ScientistMother – Aslan – Gordons – Stieg

The best I can come up with is some anagrammatic version of “Enlightenment Toils Sorrows” or “Weightiness Torn Snot”, but I confess the online anagram tool I used had a character limit and I had to drop “Stieg” from the input.

ScientistMother, thanks! I really don’t have a strong preference myself, but if people who have kids or other family commitments find that December isn’t a good time, I don’t mind offsetting it by a month or two next year.

Richard, re #3: nah, it’s just a screenshot from Word. Sorry, didn’t even notice until now. But adding the word “Gites” after either of your suggestions sounds like a great way to lose money on rental holiday home investments…

Hey, I won! I won, I won! I actually won something in my life!!

Obviously, my preference is for the new proportional voting system since that coincided with my winning =)

And now I have to think of clever new comments for the new year. . . Although not right at this moment.

Thanks, Cath and everyone!! (I’ll FB message you my e-mail)

    • Congratulations again – that whole thread was super fun! I’ve just emailed you your prize – now don’t spend all of it on posters of Jon Snow, eh?

      • bean-mom says:

Ha! I like Jon Snow, *the book character*, not the Jon Snow of the HBO series. Although, oh, okay, the actor Kit Harrington does look good with his shirt off.

        • I think I must have missed the episode where he took his shirt off… I thought it was always too damn cold at the Wall! I think he’s just right for the part, myself, and definitely my type, even though IRL he’s obviously way too young 🙂

          • bean-mom says:

It was one of the very first episodes. Robb, Theon, and Jon all take their shirts off. They’re getting ready for the King Robert’s visit to Winterfell. I saw the clip on the Internet before I ever saw the actual show. Okay, I saw that clip more than once =)

          • WHY DO I NOT REMEMBER THIS?!

            Will YouTube it tonight 🙂
